Make Believe is an innovative course designed to help you realize your potential, while helping develop your gifts in the light of God’s call on your life. You will become part of a unique learning community designed to help you discover your unique contribution to the world. The course is carefully crafted around three interactive modules designed to take place over eight weekends.
The Modules
Exploring your world-view (October – December 2009)
Over three weekends, you, as part of the learning community, will explore and identify the conscious and unconscious influences and motivations that have created the lens through which you view the world.
The aim is to enable each participant to understand, take responsibility for, and shape their world-view to best reflect their Christian values. The outcome is a deeper understanding and fuller expression of living out your Christian values at work, in community, and at home in your daily life.
Personal and Social Development (January – March 2010)
This module explores who each participant is, what each aspires to become and why. It does this within the context of who God designed and desires us to be, corporately and generally, but also specifically and personally. The module hinges on the ‘Shalom Compass’, which builds a framework for right living towards God, our self, our neighbor, and creation.
Exploring the heart of commitment and contribution, each participant works to develop his or her own personal mission statement. This seeks to encapsulate the trainee’s destiny and purpose while enabling them to bring to fruition their principal contribution at work, at home and in their local communities.
Exploring your Vocation (April – May 2010)
Over the last two weekends, the participant will seek to use the corner- stone of their mission statement as a building block for their profession. Each student builds a VMaP - Vision, Mission and Purpose – for the activity and ethos of the workplace.
The VMaP calling and world-view, honors the persons mission statement and helps realize their ‘mission capital. This process often causes individuals who undertake it to re- evaluate their whole working context. For others, it entails a period of serious reflection on how to target their energies to promoting God’s call in the work environment.
